Early 1990’s
Dr. Kichul Cha recognized that existing BIA devices were inaccurate, making them practically useless for the medical industry. He began designing something fundamentally better.
1996
InBody was founded in South Korea. Products feature direct segmental multi-frequency BIA (DSM-BIA) and an eight-point tactile electrode system — measuring body composition without empirical data.
2000
InBody established its first overseas subsidiary in Beverly Hills, California. InBody technology received FDA clearance and results were validated by independent research.
2009
Strategic Business Partnership established with GE Healthcare, validating InBody’s position in the medical-grade diagnostics space.
2012
InBody moved its US corporate office from Beverly Hills to Cerritos, California, expanding its American footprint.
2013
The InBody 570 is released — capable of measuring segmental fat analysis including visceral fat levels, a breakthrough for clinical practice.
2014
The InBody 770 research-grade analyzer launches. The InBody 570 wins the prestigious Red Dot Design Award.
2015
InBody BAND launches — the world’s first wearable body composition device. The InBody 770 wins the iF Design Award and InBody BAND wins the CES Innovation Award.
2016
The InBody 270, designed for professionals who need to analyze body composition on-the-go, goes on sale. InBody India Pvt. Ltd. is established as the official Indian subsidiary.
2017
InBody BAND 2 released with EZTraining™ auto-exercise tracking. Cheonan factory expands to 22,480 m². InBody opens its European subsidiary in the Netherlands.
2018
InBody’s BPBIO320 becomes the first Korean blood pressure monitor to pass the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) clinical validation.
2019
InBody Mexico is established, expanding the company’s Latin American footprint.
2020
InBody opens its UK subsidiary to serve the British and Irish markets directly.
2021
InBody establishes the Jinshan factory in China (InBody China Medical Technology) for regional production.
2023
Three new subsidiaries launch: InBody Oceania (Australia), InBody BWA (United States), and InBody Asia Pte. (Singapore). The next-generation InBody S-series and BWA 2.0 platforms are also released.
2024
InBody establishes its Vietnam subsidiary, deepening its presence across Southeast Asia.
2026
InBody is present in 110+ countries with over 180 million tests recorded globally. InBody India serves 1,500+ hospital, gym, and corporate wellness clients across 100+ Indian cities.
